From above he came!

Hey guys! Welcome to another From the Halls blog post! In this post I am going to show you the column that I made in the tutorial and something which I've been working on. This here is Jtoneek, my BSB level 1 on his Lion (barded steed). Some of you maybe saying 'what the hell? flying white lions do no exist in the warhammer world?!' well yeah yeah I know but I wanted to be original! This is a short piece of text from the current story which I'm writing for my army;

Jtoneek was wandering in his new homeland when suddenly he spots a party of Orcs going towards his village. A village which is still settling in and filled with young children and women. There was no time for him to alarm his fellow townsfolk so he decided to lure the Orcs his way and drive them away from his town as far as possible. Well he managed but since he's still un familliar with the landscape, he did not know where he was going. Afar he saw a forest and rushed towards it. Baenglor, his mount, is a white lion. And although white lions are fierce in battle, they are not the fastest. A couple of Orc boar riders where catching up quickly and he had no choice but to fight. As he turned around, a spear came darting his way. Baenglor leapt, dropping his master on his back, and took the spear right beneath his chin, leaving the white lion for death. Jtoneek saw his mount falling to ground wheezing as blood poured from its mouth. Clearly in rage, Jtoneek rushed towards the first Orc and gutted him with his axe. Without no hesitation he sprang towards the second Orc and decapitated him right on the spot. Fatigue starting to show on the Elf, he leapt towards another and another but the numbers seemed endless. A burlier figure moved forward and teased the Elf. Jtoneek ran towards him and as he lifted his axe to finish his target, he got hit dead centre on his head with the Orcs' shield. Jtoneek fell to the ground catching glimpses of his surroundings. The Orc put down his shield and lifted his massive weapon ready to finish the Elf right where he stood. His other Orc companions raised cheers and chanted as he prepared to finish his foe, when suddenly the large burly Orc lost grip of his weapon and dropped it on the ground behind his back. The Orc followed right after. In shock the surrounding Orcs where confused and all of a sudden all of them started shouting as vines began to entangle around their feet, making their way up towards their torso. Suddenly crows! Lots and lots of crows come from no where pecking at the eyes of the entangled Orcs. Jtoneek, barely conscious, sees like ember light coming towards him fast! Without a moment to spare the remaining Orc were struck dead in the chest with what seemed to be spears made from ember. The vines let loose and the Orcs dropped dead on the spot. From nowhere, two figures came by. One surveyed the Orcs and the other one lifted Jtoneeks' head, muttering words in an familiar language. He put his hand over Jtoneeks' forehead and said 'Rest now, my child'.

So, anywaaaays this is all part of my big story thing and will continue on it later. This is where Jtoneek is found by druids of the forest and is taught in the arts of the beast! What happens to his mount I will say later but one can tell from this picture:

Well I hope you like this one guys! Feel free to ask questions, send them by e-mail or in the comments section below! Happy New Years!

Miniature Column Tutorial

Hey guys welcome to another From the Halls post! This time I'm gonna give you guys a guide on how to make columns. Things you are going to need:
  • Quick drying plaster.
  • Plastic tube/conduit pipe/smarties tube (depends on the diameter you are looking for)
  • PVA glue
  • Thick Cardboard
  • Patience
Step 1

So the first step is to prepare a the tube which you are going to use to cast the column. If you are going to use a conduit, saw it off from the middle so that it can be split to remove the cast easily. The best result would be obtained with a smarties tube because you can just peel it off. Once you have something like the ones in the image below you can move on to step 2.

Step 2:

Mark out 5 mm strips on the cardboard and cut them out.

Step 3:

Start gluing the strips to the column. Try to leave equal distances between each strip. Try to glue the last strip as equal as possible because since we are not measuring the circumference God knows what distance is going to be left.

After you glue the last strip, leave it to dry.

Step 4:

Once all is dry, start snipping off the excess left from the strips.

Step 5:

Here I mixed a paste of 2:1:1:1 of plaster:sand:water:PVA glue. Once it reach the consistincy of paste, I used a flat brush and covered the column with. Below is a picture of the column when it dried.

Well I hope you like it guys and that it's useful for you! I'll post some pics of the finished column which I'm finishing on my base.

If you have any questions feel free to leave me a message!

Cheers

Descendants of Othniel, a High Elf army of Chrace

Hey guys and welcome!! This is the first From the Halls post on this blog and today I'm gonna show you guys some of the miniatures which I am gonna include in my High Elf army. My two favorite races in the fantasy world are Elves and Dwarfs and to be honest with you, I don't like it that they are enemies in the Warhammer world. Well yeah, now they are allies sort of. But there's still tension between them and I DON'T LIKE IT! So...I decided to create a short story and create my own little High Elf town. The High Elf town is that of Othniel, ruled by a Lord named Lionel. The story takes us back to the time of the War of the Beard or the War of Vengeance. A good ally of Lord Lionel (yes its a Dwarf) sends word to his friend that he wishes to discuss matters about the current situation. Both lords come to a conclusion that no High Elf would be foolish enough to commit such an act. Lord Lionel agrees that his King is stubborn and arrogant and when he sends a messenger to Lionel's court telling him and his advisers that the King requires them to march on the Dwarfs or to be considered traitors, Lionel decides to move his people to the mountainous regions close to the Dwarven hold. Anyways enough of this and I'll post the full story later.

Now on to the minis!

These are my White Lion riders in the making:
