From above he came! Part 1 final version

Ok so first of all, Happy new year guys! Today I'm gonna give you the final version of 'From above he came'. I decided to change the name of the main character from Jtoneek to Edonel. This is because the name was not so Elvish-y. Jtoneek is my best friends' nickname and since this character will be representing him, I decided to use that. Well I hope he agrees with the change hehe. Well guys the story has be stretched a bit. I hope you like it!

The wind was cold... the sun ever shining... it was perfect. Edonel underestimated his leaders’ wild decision. This was truly paradise! He roamed around the landscape on his mount Baenglor. Baenglor is not only his mount but is his friend as well. His father gave him Baenglor when he was just a cub and from that day on they were inseparable. The lion was still getting used to the snow on the ground. He never knew what was beneath. During his time here, he tumbled a few times when he found holes underneath. Baenglor growled but Edonel would smile and chuckle.

“Ah my friend we are settled at last. No more nobles pestering around the court and certainly no more messengers!” Baenglor growled in approval. The lion and the elf continued roaming around, surveying the new landscape. The town was not far, the townsfolk still unpacking and settling in while the soldiers continued building new houses for their families to live in. Lionel was away giving thanks to the Dwarf King for his generosity. Edonel was chosen to take his place while Lionel was away but he kindly refused although still honoured that his superior considered him an equal. In his stead Lionel left Dillon in charge. Due to Dillon’s temper, Edonel chuckled at the thought of Dillon being surrounded with townsfolk demanding things from him. But alas this was not his burden now and for him it is the time to enjoy his new homeland.

As Baenglor was moving through a patch of snow, ever hoping that now holes lay about, Edonel heard a noise. Suddenly Baenglor stopped and he too heard the noise coming from afar. Edonel shifted uneasily searching for the location from where the noise was coming from. Manic laughter and shouts were suddenly clear and Edonel froze as he realised what the noise was coming from. Orcs! He spotted a party of Orcs riding boars and they were heading towards his town. The town was undefended, the warriors busy building their homes. There was no time for them to prepare and no time for Edonel to warn them of the coming danger. Edonel gulped and without hesitation made his way towards the Orcs. Still unsure of what to do, Edonel hoped that he would distract the Orcs and lure them to follow him. One of the orcs spotted the elf and turned his board towards his direction, the others soon followed. Edonel guided Baenglor backwards and started riding as far from the town as possible.

Not very far from him and Baenglor, Edonel spotted a forest. This might be a good way to lose the orcs. Their unending manic laughter got louder which meant they were getting closer. Baenglor leapt off a rock and went into the forest. White lions are animals raised for battle not for riding. The elf was a good distance away from the orcs but they were getting close and fast! Baenglor was panting heavily as he manoeuvred around the trees. Edonel felt his mount getting tired and the orcs got so close... there wasn’t any choice for him left. He guided Baenglor around a big tree and halted. Edonel got off and prepared for battle. Nine, no eleven orcs lay in front of him. The biggest of them all moved forward and smirked at the elf.

“Well boyz, luk at wha we evv ‘ere! A skinnie!” The orcs laughed and mocked the lone elf.

“So wer’z ur kitty eh?! Hew wud make a nice rug for me tent. Donthca tink so boyz?”

The elf grinned, “Ah yes and your heads would make great trophies for my den.”

The orc hacked out a bile from his throat and left a small puddle of spittle between him and Edonel. “Blargh he’s yours boyz, dontcha take long, plenty more o’ him wer dem pointy stunties sed.”

Edonel opened his eyes wide as he realised that the orc was referring to his townsfolk! Without hesitation the orcs started darting towards the elf one by one. Edonel lifted up his axe and surged forward. The first orc came down as Edonel gutted him, another one followed as he was decapited on the spot. One by one the orcs came down. Suddenly from behind a tree, Baenglor leapt at the burly orc warrior! The orc spotted Baenglor and without a single thought lifted up a spear and pierced the lion right under the chin. The orc moved out of the way as the lion fell to the ground. Edonel saw this and shouted out his companions name with tears starting to show in his eyes.

“Derz my trofy boyz! Haha blargh” the orcs behind him started laughing and cheering.

Edonel clearly in rage darted forward avoiding the orcs in front of him just to reach the big orc who had just killed his friend. As Edonel came close to the orc he lifted his axe to kill his target when all of a sudden the orc strafed to the left. Edonel missed the orc completely. He regained his footing and leapt at the orc once more. This time the orc lifted his massive shield and smacked the elf dead on his forehead. Edonel was done, the blow was struck and he was lost. As he dropped to the ground, Edonel could only catch glimpses. He saw Baenglor only a few meters away. All life had left him as he lay dead in a puddle of blood staining his white pelt. Edonel felt footsteps coming closer.

“Well skinnie... dis be it den.” The mighty orc lifted up his massive spear to finish the elf. Edonel knew this was the end and took his last few breaths.

“AAARRGHHHH Wats’ dis??!!”

Vines started entangling the orcs feet. They started pulling away at the vines but the vines persisted making their way upwards covering the orc bodies, impairing them from movement. The orcs lay still, shouting and grunting as their constricted bodies were covered in vines.

“Wot sorta magik is dis??!! AAARRGGGHHHHHH”

Edonel was still dazed on the ground but he could see the orcs in their current state. Suddenly, from nowhere... crows!! Lots and lots of crows! The crows started pecking manically at the eyes of the orcs. The orcs cried out as the beasts tore away at their eyes. Edonel heard another voice in the background. The voice like an echo in the forest. From nowhere spears darted and struck the orcs dead in the chest. These spears were not made from wood or metal... but ember! Suddenly the orc cries stopped as the creatures died.

Edonel turned his head as he could and saw two figures walking towards him. One of them examined Baenglor. The other however came to his side.

“W-w-w-who... a-are...”

“Shh rest now, we will talk later.”

From above he came!

Hey guys! Welcome to another From the Halls blog post! In this post I am going to show you the column that I made in the tutorial and something which I've been working on. This here is Jtoneek, my BSB level 1 on his Lion (barded steed). Some of you maybe saying 'what the hell? flying white lions do no exist in the warhammer world?!' well yeah yeah I know but I wanted to be original! This is a short piece of text from the current story which I'm writing for my army;

Jtoneek was wandering in his new homeland when suddenly he spots a party of Orcs going towards his village. A village which is still settling in and filled with young children and women. There was no time for him to alarm his fellow townsfolk so he decided to lure the Orcs his way and drive them away from his town as far as possible. Well he managed but since he's still un familliar with the landscape, he did not know where he was going. Afar he saw a forest and rushed towards it. Baenglor, his mount, is a white lion. And although white lions are fierce in battle, they are not the fastest. A couple of Orc boar riders where catching up quickly and he had no choice but to fight. As he turned around, a spear came darting his way. Baenglor leapt, dropping his master on his back, and took the spear right beneath his chin, leaving the white lion for death. Jtoneek saw his mount falling to ground wheezing as blood poured from its mouth. Clearly in rage, Jtoneek rushed towards the first Orc and gutted him with his axe. Without no hesitation he sprang towards the second Orc and decapitated him right on the spot. Fatigue starting to show on the Elf, he leapt towards another and another but the numbers seemed endless. A burlier figure moved forward and teased the Elf. Jtoneek ran towards him and as he lifted his axe to finish his target, he got hit dead centre on his head with the Orcs' shield. Jtoneek fell to the ground catching glimpses of his surroundings. The Orc put down his shield and lifted his massive weapon ready to finish the Elf right where he stood. His other Orc companions raised cheers and chanted as he prepared to finish his foe, when suddenly the large burly Orc lost grip of his weapon and dropped it on the ground behind his back. The Orc followed right after. In shock the surrounding Orcs where confused and all of a sudden all of them started shouting as vines began to entangle around their feet, making their way up towards their torso. Suddenly crows! Lots and lots of crows come from no where pecking at the eyes of the entangled Orcs. Jtoneek, barely conscious, sees like ember light coming towards him fast! Without a moment to spare the remaining Orc were struck dead in the chest with what seemed to be spears made from ember. The vines let loose and the Orcs dropped dead on the spot. From nowhere, two figures came by. One surveyed the Orcs and the other one lifted Jtoneeks' head, muttering words in an familiar language. He put his hand over Jtoneeks' forehead and said 'Rest now, my child'.

So, anywaaaays this is all part of my big story thing and will continue on it later. This is where Jtoneek is found by druids of the forest and is taught in the arts of the beast! What happens to his mount I will say later but one can tell from this picture:

Well I hope you like this one guys! Feel free to ask questions, send them by e-mail or in the comments section below! Happy New Years!

Cheers

Miniature Column Tutorial

Hey guys welcome to another From the Halls post! This time I'm gonna give you guys a guide on how to make columns. Things you are going to need:
  • Quick drying plaster.
  • Plastic tube/conduit pipe/smarties tube (depends on the diameter you are looking for)
  • PVA glue
  • Thick Cardboard
  • Patience
Step 1

So the first step is to prepare a the tube which you are going to use to cast the column. If you are going to use a conduit, saw it off from the middle so that it can be split to remove the cast easily. The best result would be obtained with a smarties tube because you can just peel it off. Once you have something like the ones in the image below you can move on to step 2.

Step 2:

Mark out 5 mm strips on the cardboard and cut them out.

Step 3:

Start gluing the strips to the column. Try to leave equal distances between each strip. Try to glue the last strip as equal as possible because since we are not measuring the circumference God knows what distance is going to be left.

After you glue the last strip, leave it to dry.

Step 4:

Once all is dry, start snipping off the excess left from the strips.

Step 5:

Here I mixed a paste of 2:1:1:1 of plaster:sand:water:PVA glue. Once it reach the consistincy of paste, I used a flat brush and covered the column with. Below is a picture of the column when it dried.

Well I hope you like it guys and that it's useful for you! I'll post some pics of the finished column which I'm finishing on my base.

If you have any questions feel free to leave me a message!

Cheers

Descendants of Othniel, a High Elf army of Chrace

Hey guys and welcome!! This is the first From the Halls post on this blog and today I'm gonna show you guys some of the miniatures which I am gonna include in my High Elf army. My two favorite races in the fantasy world are Elves and Dwarfs and to be honest with you, I don't like it that they are enemies in the Warhammer world. Well yeah, now they are allies sort of. But there's still tension between them and I DON'T LIKE IT! So...I decided to create a short story and create my own little High Elf town. The High Elf town is that of Othniel, ruled by a Lord named Lionel. The story takes us back to the time of the War of the Beard or the War of Vengeance. A good ally of Lord Lionel (yes its a Dwarf) sends word to his friend that he wishes to discuss matters about the current situation. Both lords come to a conclusion that no High Elf would be foolish enough to commit such an act. Lord Lionel agrees that his King is stubborn and arrogant and when he sends a messenger to Lionel's court telling him and his advisers that the King requires them to march on the Dwarfs or to be considered traitors, Lionel decides to move his people to the mountainous regions close to the Dwarven hold. Anyways enough of this and I'll post the full story later.

Now on to the minis!

These are my White Lion riders in the making:
